------------------
I am a student in a Danish design- and art-school, studying clayart and
glass-art.

I am planning a travel to South America from mid December 1997 to end
May 1998 and has planned to visit Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia and
Argentina.

I would like to meet potters or =93clay artists=94, learn about South
American clayart, their traditions, technique and expressions. I would
also like to visit art and design schools and galleries.

Can anyone help me with contacts, names, addresses or any piece of god
information on these subjects ??

Potting in Brasil, at least here, is much more elaborate than you might
imagine. I'm happy to furnish many contacts, but you'll be obliged to
communicate in portuguese. There is a long (500 year) tradition of potting
and brickmaking here and a rich recent history with purely expressive
work.

If you get to Santa Cruz Bolivia you might look up Sr. Lorgio Vaca,
and Marcello Callau. there is an art school called Instituto de
Belles Artes at the statue of Cristo. Many years ago there were a
lot of interesting clay tile factories in and around Santa Cruz.
Lorgio will be of tremendous help.
