I just might create objects whose function is concerned with and/or
dependent on beauty or good taste or philosophy or theories of aesthetics
for their existence, value or significance. If these objects which I might
create are useful, in that they contribute to philosophy or theories of
aesthetics or facilitate the appreciation of beauty, they are functional
and utilitarian. It is a good thing I'm not an artist.

Dan,I really like those words. Makes me feel good after being somewhat
down trying to convince a Public Art Gallery Director of such things....

You know, I am an artist. It comes from a souce deep inside of me, it
comes, I think, from my child within. I work with clay, and magic
happens. I don't sit around and think , "I am going to make something
that will cause someone to feel this, or think that." I think that would
run counter to what i have learned art is.
Art works, to me, engage the person who is experiencing the art, in a
dailogue. Not every piece of art I see engages me, and as an artist, i
don't begin to think that my work is going to engage everyone who sees
it. Not everyone is interested in Emily Dickinson! A booth at an art
festival has engaged me, as I watched people being drawn to clay as tho
it were a magnet. I think that is art too! My ability to perceive allows
me to become engaged in life, and to think in a broader and broader
sense, and whatever adds to this ability to perceive and to become a
part of, to me, is art!
