always, always have lefties throw as righties...
do not change the rotation.
it does not matter... i am left.....always have wheels to use...do not have
to re-wire at demo time in strange city.
it is no advantage to throw clockwise....(sorry don h.)
only if you live in japan...they all throw clockwise....i did not when i
lived there. it was too confusing.

I am backwards I guess. I learned to throw soon after I had broken my
wrist. Clockwise is the only way that works for me. I have tried to
change, but I have not had any luck. Guess you can't teach this dog a
new trick.

Get a kick wheel for your studio, and warn students about rewiring if
they move to an electric later.

Mel - having learned to throw counter-clock, could I throw in a word in
praise of learning to do both? Working with mixed colours/textures of clay
means that you are often working with clay that can't have all the air
wedged out of it without losing the mix pattern that you want. So you get
some throwing problems which can often be mitigated or solved by
alternating directions during throwing. And of course, if you alternate
direction frequently during the throwing, you can get some neat splashes of
pattern, instead of the barber-pole effect.
