glaze thought

Hi,

In pursuit of a solution to a terra sig that wouldn't pop or flake off,
Thomas E. Lee sent
me a very detailed post on mixing the sig. One of the things he mentioned
was to blend it
in a blender for 10 - 20 minutes. I am wondering if some of our glaze, sig,
and slip
problems regarding fit may have something to do with the fact that some of
us just do not
mix long enough or even ball mill ingredients or even know what needs what.
We get the
ingredients and firing instructions but nothing is ever mentioned about the
duration of
mixing. Some of us, myself included, are pretty illiterate about chemicals
and what they
need to do their thing. It would be a shame if a recipe failed because of
lack of mixing
time.

I have found that with so many of us learning on our own it is easy to over
look the simple
and obvious. What do you think?
