gas pressure gauges for new kiln

updated tue 31 dec 96

Tara & Michael on tue 24 dec 96

I am looking for suppliers of gas guages which measure water column inches.
I'm pretty sure they are called manometers.

I am virtually finished installing my new updraft fiber kiln that has a
lift off shell. I'm pretty excited about starting to fire with this puppy
after sixteen years of firing in three electrics.

I'm waiting for a call back from Clean Air Products in Portland , Oregon
which is supposed to carry these gauges. But I'll bet there are other
places that carry them that may have a better price or better gauge. I
need four so I'm concerned with the price.

So if you have information on a good product and/or price please post me
personally or to the list ASAP.

Thanks!

Dwyer Instruments Inc. makes a very good gauge. They are at 1-219-872-9141.
Their address is P.O. Box 373, Michigan City IND. 46360. This gauge goes up
to 15iwc so most of the face, which is four inches across, is used, making
adjustments very easy. The cost here in Calgary is around $117.00 CAN. You
should be albe to pick it up for $75.00 US. It may be a little more than
you want to spend but it is money well spent.

Michael,

Hi and Happy Holidays.

A Manometer is not a gauge but tubing that contains water. Hooked up to the
line, the column of water rises so many inches and gives you, you quessed it,
Water Column inches (wc). Gauges which measure the same range of pressure are
just called water column gauges. They come in 0-15", 0-30", & 0-60". They
used to come in 0-10" and may still be gathering dust on someones shelves.
The were made by Marshall Towne, which has fallen prey to financial boo-boos.
Water column gauges are more expensive than PSI gauges. Because of the low
pressures they measure, they are made differently. Diaphragm gauges(wc) are
more intricate and sensitive than Bourdon tube gauges(PSI).
We sell wc gauges & PSI gauges in all flavors. Our catalog is free. email
your address or give me a call to discuss your application.....

You can also try WARD Burner Systems. Marc Ward is on this list. He sent
me his catalog and he seems to have some good prices. I may be giving him
some business myself. According to the catalog, his e-mail address is
wardburner@aol.com

did you make the kiln yourself or did you buy it? I am looking at several
different designs for fiber kilns right now. I would appreciate it if you
would e-mail me privately and let me know how you like you new kiln, how it
fires, etc.
thank ahead of time.
