Hi there Clayarters

Just wondering if any other of you are going to Fireworks in Edmonton next
weekend. (Bedsides Ron, Don, and Peggy!)

And Peggy, do you know if anyone has arranged Clayart pins?

Thanks,

speaking of fireworks; any one have a good idea about using a resist for
sawdust firing? i'd like to be able to control which areas of my pots go
black and which areas stay the clay color.

Try using glaze, It will vitrify and block-out the carbon

>Here is a suggestion, make a clay pad the shape you want. Lay the pot on
its side on the pad. The pad shape should "resist" the smoke and color you
might get from the firing. Of course, this assumes that the pot will not be
subject to movement in the fire. By contrast, if you want a black "negative
impression", use some nice juicy organic thing like a leaf, cut the pad to
match, and place the leaf between the pad and the pot. The carbon from the
leaf should leave you a nice black impression. Cheers, Emily, in Astoria,
where it is NOT raining. (It was raining an hour ago, but it is not raining
now.) We have now had 74.86 " of rain since Oct. 1. (We start measuring in
October.) Our average yearly rainfall is 75", therefore we are all finished
for the year... I expect, ney, I demand, no more water!) :-) Peace from
