Hi folks,
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or knowledge about the
Fire Right Junior (surface mount model). I'm looking at getting one to
connect to our electric kiln to provide gradual increase in temp. It's
suppose to connect to the kiln switches and gradually go from low to
high over a selectable period of 1 to 10 hours.
Combined with the kiln vent, I'm hoping to make the beginning part of a
firing more automatic.

Any info is always appreciated.

Hi,
I have used the Fire Right for the last 8 years. I have had no problems and
really like that I don't have to watch for every 2-3 hours to change the
knobs. It goes up pretty consistantly at about 270 degrees per hour. It is
difficult to slow down because the only option is to put it on hold. I have
tried to put it on hold at the top end and that doesn't work because the kiln
sitter will shut off and I have to turn everything back on and get it back up
to the temp I want and then put all the knobs on medium to keep it at the
temp I want for an hour soak. If you want a lot of control I would get the
programmable controller.
Of course, I always am there towards the end to make sure everything ends
properly!
