extruder recomendation?

updated fri 28 feb 97

I'm looking into buying an extruder for my in-home studio. Is the North Star
a good
one or would I be better off spending a little more on something like the
Brent?
I'd appreciate any input.

Joanie,
From my experience of using all kinds of extruders in demos, I'd say don't
waste your money on a North Star. The barrel is ridiculously small. Go for
the Brent, or better yet, the Bailey.

The extruder size is really dependent upon the amount you will be
needing to extrude. The North Star does have the advantage of being the
safest extruder due to the positive pivot attachment. It cannot slip
allowing the handle to hit you in the head. If you want to get a large
capacity extruder that uses the slip clevis I would suggest the Brent
since it uses a thicker walled tube that is more resistant to bending.
