Hello Ron! I have just recently started experimenting with Egyptian paste
and I am using the recipe that is in Daniel Rhodes "Clay and Glazes for
the Potter. I have had what I think are good results with it, have made
up batches of different colours using different oxides. I did have a
small post-firing problem....salts kept crystallizing out of the fired
clay and depositing on the surface. I have found that immersing the pieces
in water for a few days and changing the water every day got rid of
this.(Tip courtesy of John Baymore!) I have only been able to make
relatively small pieces as the stuff just collapses, but I have enjoyed
playing around with it. Makes great beads! It is also,I have found,
absolutely necessary to protect kiln shelves as per Rhodes instructions.
The stuff really is self-glazing and sticks to shelves without any
hesitation!

Hope this helps,
