Hi all,
Well said Vince.
It is truly amazing how much influence that a teacher has on
students, adults as well as kids. I learned this while teaching one of my
classes in making handles ....now personally, I really don't like making
handles making....I can make them just fine, but I find them a laborious
pain in the butt! I made the mistake of communicating that to the class
and they ALL now have a prejudice against making handles to this day !
Since then, I have made it a point to keep some of my thoughts to myself
and let them develop their own opinions on things. Another time, I made a
commment on how I wish they could all see a pottery display at a distant
gallery (70 miles away), as the work on display illistrated some techniques
they were learning. They understood the "comment" as an assignment and
went !
Scary!
