Dear Tom,

I'll test your cone 6 glazes this summer, gladly. There is indeed a lack -
most of the ones we use are converted from original cone 10 recipes. We fire
a wood kiln to 6, because it would just about kill us to reach 10! It's an
old kiln - 42? years old now - those old hard bricks take a long time to heat
up. Part of the chimney blew down in the first big winter storm, so that
kiln won't get fired until we repair it.

I do fire at cone 10 in the gas kiln, but for our purposes, 6 is fine for the
wood. We mostly fire for copper reds and other hopefully glamorous colors,
but I love shino and look forward to trying yours. If I weren't 5 miles away
from my studio and glaze book, I'd jot some of ours for you to try... I'll
try to remember to bring it home.

These are some of my favorites too. . . would you mind sharing?
Always looking for copper reds, shinos and anything interesting for wood
firings.
TIA, Debi
