coddling "functional" ware

I have nothing bad to say about the TEST. The test is a great way to see
if wares stand up to shock.

What I was talking about is the expectation that we coddle pottery for
everyday use. How much sense does that make?

If we expect busy people to preheat their coffee mugs, we expect the
impossible. You should expect those mugs back if they can't stand normal
use. (ie room temp or colder to boiling water with no preheating)
