July this summer stalking the origions of western culture. I am asking for
information concerning clayart in these countries past and present.
Current shows, workspaces, mosaics, tiles, ceramic towns ( like Faenza,
Ravenna) or travellers stories...ie cheep pensionnes..a not to be missed
town etc.. Any information is appreciated. Please send your replys to our
Email at: Hbender@kuentos.guam.net

Girona Spain, north of Barcelona and close to the beautiful Pyrenees
(wonderful for hiking). In Girona (a walled city) there is a beautiful
museum up on the hill with two or 3 floors of ceramics).

There are some nice Etruscan pots in Fiesole in the hills above Firenze and
a favorite relief from the "big city".

Spain is a great place to "mesh" western with eastern. Agost is where we
are having a summer workshop from Jun 1-26. There are some apts.
available after we leave. The town has been producing pottery since
pre-Roman period.

If you are coming to Europe, I think you must go to Spain, and if you
can perhaps go to North Africa, from Algeciras in Spain you can get to
Tangiers in Morocco very easily. I am sure you will be impressed. You
will be able to see the arabs' influence in Spanish ceramics, in pots
and tiles, etc.,

In Spain you could go to

Museo Municipal de Ceramica
Sagrari, 22
46940 Manises
Valencia
Spain, Where I believed are displayed early examples of lustre
majolica..

Museu de Ceramica
Palau Reial de Pedralbes,
Diagonal 686
08034 Barcelona

in France:
Musee de la Faience
Chateau Pastre
Parc de Montredon
157, avenue de Montredon
13008 Marseille

Hope this is of some help,

Enjoy your stay in Europe,
