clayart glazes

I have just added another 6 months of so of glaze recipes from ClayArt to the
CeramicsWeb ClayArt glaze database. I haven't had time to put the files on
the server, so the recipes are only available through the database at the
moment, and not as whole downloads. Still, it's a very large and growing
archive of ACCURATE information on recipes posted to clayart in an
easy-to-search format.

However, quite a few of the recipes are pretty minimal (often just a list of
ingredients and a cone number), as many people don't post much useful
information with the recipes they send to clayart. They all are calculated
for molecular unity formula and percentage analysis using HyperGlaze which
also adds major health warnings on hazardous ingredients, but that still
doesn't add all the practical information about actual usage.

We'd like to remedy that and ask your help. If you've used any of these
clayart-posted recipes and can provide more details, we'd like to encourage
you to contribute any recipes with better documentation to the GlazeBase
database project. We'd also love to have any tried-and-true recipes you might
want to post along with complete documentation.

Bob Wilt has been working diligently on a new web page for easy and painless
submission of recipes to the GlazeBase database of well-documented glazes.
This is just about ready to go. More information (URL, etc.) will be posted
about that here on ClayArt soon.

The GlazeBase submissions page by Bob Wilt is now available at:

I think you'll find it very easy to use.

Please take a little time to submit a glaze or two to the GlazeBase project.
Think about it as a New Year's resolution - to submit one well-documented
glaze a month perhaps.
