I looked it up once somewhere. The Egyptian god of pottery was Kumm. At
Haywood, our "class" had a kiln "dog". One of us made a small sculpture
of a dog and we put it on top of the kiln. We gave it "offerings" of our
fave stuff. Pez, choc. chip cookies, an oak leaf, etc. We had some really
good firings too!!

PS I have sent a message to my step-dad who is deeply Catholic to ask him
