clay mixing and aging

Hi all,

I've been following the threads on clay mixing and ageing and thought I
would add to the discussion that I mix clay by hand as a slip, then dry out
in plaster forms lined with cloth. Each batch is about about 280# of dry
material. I have two claw-footed bathtubs I can alternate. In Iowa, we
used a stock tank. I don't use a pug mill and the plasticity is
fantastic - aging is not an issue. The clay is stored in spiral shaped
lumps, just right for continuing the wedging process when I get to that
batch.
