In the many cast kilns I have built I have never cast the floor. Not
to say that it can't be done but I think you should have used a
harder castable for that part of the kiln due to the fact it carries
the weight of the entire kiln. I suggest that you bring the walls of
the kiln down to the bricks or the top of the blocks allowing them to
set outside the cast floor. This will allow for some expansion of
the kiln during firing as well.

I guess I am presuming too much here. I am guessing that this kiln
is a cantenary arch and over thirty cubic foot capacity. That means
the castable for the arch will weigh at least 1000 to 1200 lbs.

I will be leaving for a vacation at my cabin in Colorado in a few
days so if I can be of any help you can E-mail me or call me here at
the university.
