building a motorized throwing wheel

Hi,

I tried this question (in a different form) about 3 weks ago and got no
response at all.
It seems to me this group has members which are technically oriented so I
still hope there is someone who may answer this and may have missed my first
post:
I would like to build a motorized wheel.
Is there any source for plans for this (on the net - preferably, or in
printed form)?
If there is no source for this, maybe those who own one, and had a chance to
look into it's internals could give me some information:
How is the motor typiclly linked to the wheel's axle? belt, chain, friction?
what is the typical reduction ratio?
Am I right to think that the motors are in the 0.3 - 1.0 HP range?
Do these type of wheels have a flywheel to maintain steady speed or is the
speed control done totaly by the motor?
Any additioanl information that may help me with this will be appreciated.

Thank you,
Gilad
