Re: Sandy Dwiggins query about the new turquoise in oxidation. I mixed a
very small sample awhile ago and tried it at cone 5- 6. Wonderful colour,
somewhat dusty/frosty looking though and it did alot of pinging and crazing
(or maybe shivering?) on a white stoneware - Plainsman 370. Not likely the
best choice of clay! Have since only dobbed on bits as an accent colour on
things like vases - once on a red clay. Again it looked nice but seemed a
little variable and as though it was going to be like other lithium glazes
and not do well on the rims of things- that is, possibly want to shiver.
Anyway, I didn't pursue it any further, but am glad to see it being explored
as it had been rather promising-looking.
