I have a Brent model CXC with a 14 inch head, I believe. I have been using some
bats that i purchased made of Polysuperplastic, but I find i really rarely throw
huge based ware.

Could we discuss types of bats re: make, composition, and size
as well as some of the super-let-go bats advertized in CM lately ? Some of these
are made of Plaster of Paris.

Is it possible to change my wheel head size economically ?

Lastly, where is a good source for Plaster of Paris ?

CP-We use square bats (8" diam) inserted into larger round bats with
square cut out in middle for smaller stuff. They are inexpensive, and
take up very little room. Check Ceramics Monthly for manufacturers. Ours
are masonite (duron, I think), and are made in North Carolina. Enjoyed
your poem in last posting!

You're going to get my standard reply......... as long as you are trying
everything, try not using bats at all.
A little trimming and practice lifting them off and your life will change.

I get my Plaster of Paris and Modeling Plaster in up to 50 lb bags (25
kilo) at the local home improvement store, or at a lumber yard, some
carry it. Just make sure you don't get Hydrocal (tm U.S. Gypsum) as it
is much harder and will not make bats very well, but they will be
strong Avoid anything with fibers or super hard and fast drying, as
they will not pick up the moisture, they will behave almost as if they
have been sized.

Some of the Brent and Amaco wheels have a jiggering head fairly
inexpensively.
