A few weeks ago a man came through our town and passed well over $1000
worth of bad checks--all of which was spent buying fine crafts. One of the
people he hit thinks maybe he is doing this in order to acquire inventory
in a shop somewhere. The name on the check is:
Michael Troyer
24681 Idlewild Av.
Elkhart, IN 46516
The bank is Valley American Bank in Elkhart. All his checks written in
Cedarburg were returned marked "Account Closed" We are pursuing this
through the local authorities, but I just wanted to warn any of you doing
fairs or having shops in the midewest about this. He could strike again!
I did not meet him personally when he passed a worthless check in my shop
for $240 worth of pottery, but he is said to be knowledgeable about
pottery, wood, glass, etc. If anyone knows how he can be reached, I would
like to know and pass the information along to the police. Thanks.
