There is a really nice craft store in the train station in Perth. They have
the Australian pottery magazines - Ceramics Art and Preception and Pottery
in Austrralia.

I will be visiting Australia in July (Sydney, Cairns, Darwin areas) and would
like to visit a few potters' coops, guilds, or studios. Any suggestions?

I have been corresponding with a potter in Australia by the name of Liz
Hardy, she tells me she belongs to a co-operative of 12 potters in the
Sydney area called Innercity Clayworkers Gallery. Don't know their address.
But you should be able to find them. Say hello for me. Diane Huff

Am planning a trip to Australia with a few art teacher friends this year
in August. Would anyone who's visited, or some of the locals please
contact me offlist to give suggestions on how best to use our time, where
to go. They want to learn as much as possible about native folk crafts.

TIA

I will be in the Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth areas in this coming August.
Does anyone have suggestions as to "must sees"?

If you know of something that might be of interest, studios or galleries,
that might not be easily found or known about, please feel free to share.

Thanks!

Reid,

I suggest you contact Tad Kozdra in Australia. He maintains a great web
site: www.clayzee.com and his email is kozdra@connect.com.au.

My favorite gallery while we were there was right across the street from our
lodgings. It's "Skepsi On Swanston", 670 Swanston St, in the inner
Melbourne area. There were many good ceramic artists represented, as well
as other 2-d and 3-d art. The main museum in Melbourne is also not to be
missed.

As far as what touristy things to see, the Fairy Penguin parade was really
quite interesting! This was on (I believe) Phillip's Island, about an hour
SW of Melbourne.

Have fun!

Kathy

Hey all, I'm thinking about studying abroad the fall of 2003 in
Australia, does anyone know the reputations of Australian Universities in Art
and Ceramics....particularly Queensland University of Technology and
Tasmania...but info on any universities there would be appreciated.

Thanks Ryan

Hello..
I am from the Netherlands and planning to go to Australia (Perth) for a
couple of weeks.
I am making pottery myself (primitive and stoneware).
Is there anyone who has a suggestion where I can go for interesting typical
Australian pottery ?
Thanks.
