My friend Bela Silva here as an artist in residence at Kohler is looking
for a dry almost chalky type glaze but with a smooth quality when you touch
it to experiment with on tiles. The kilns here are oxidation and either
cone 6 or 9/10. She would also be interested in the same type of surface at
a lower temperature for use when she goes back to her studio in Chicago.

from memory only, Alan was using a High Barium matt with various additions
of oxides. The glaze was in the range of 1/3 feldspar 1/3 Clay 1/3 Barium
Carbonate. I would recommend that strontium be substituted. I have tested
Barium Sulphate but those matt galzes almost certainly leach barium anyway
so for a testing program start with the above using 1/3 strontium.
