Whiting is a very imprecise term. Industrially it can be used to describe
anything from pure calcium carbonate to dolomite. Unfortuately this means
that if you are buying something labeled "Whiting" you need more
information to determine what you have. If given a choice I would opt for
buying this material under the name calcium carbonate and getting an
analysis. Cheap as it is I would consider getting rid of what you have and
starting from scratch.
If new Calcium Carbonate does not solve the problem, try half Caclium
Carbonate and half dolomite.
